As always, I spent a lot of time thinking about my 2018: where did I land with the goals I set for myself? Do I need to have the goal this year as well? Do I need to be more detailed with that goal? Do I understand how I met that goal? Do I understand how I didn't meet that goal? What got in the way? What helped me?
As a Type A individual, I am very rigorous in my evaluation. Maybe this is how I was brought up, or I was born with it! However I got this way, it keeps me true to myself, allows me to stay focused on what matters most, and helps me grow as an individual. In 2018, I started a new job in a new industry in a new state. It was a year of transition to say the least. During all this transition, I had a few meltdowns: "I lost sight of my goals" "I can't manage a blog on top of a new job" "I'm not working out as much as I should be" "Can I even blog anymore? Should I? Do people care about my voice?" A new job and a new hobby is a lot to juggle with everyday life. But I kept reminding myself that my blog was a way for me to find my voice, be creative, and exercise a part of my brain that I do not use at work. Work! Work was great all of 2018. I took a risk on myself, and it all worked out. For the first time, I feel happy, fulfilled with my career, and content with the trajectory. Health - Well I definitely dropped the ball. But instead of dwelling on it, I decided to make a commitment to my diet restrictions - Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Egg Free, and Soy Free. It's time to put my body first and work on healthy eating in hopes to get off of my Crohn's medication. If I don't get off the medication, at least I am fueling my body with the best resources I have. Of course, working out regularly is on my list. If you follow me on Instagram, you know how crazy I am! #sweatyselfie Last but not least, recreation. Taking advantage of personal/leisure time. Go visit local lakes, enjoy yoga, take more baths, and restart the weekly face mask habit. I hope you find this vlog as a motivational tool, and not just me rattling off my goals. Be creative, think about what you enjoy, and what you want to get out of your next year. It is never too late to put you first.
